Att varna för kristen universalism utan bibelcitat blir minst sagt märkligt när tex Paulus i början av både Efesierbrevet och Kolosserbrevet fastställer att Gud har en plan för skapelsen; att återställa den. Tror man inte på Bibeln?
To warn against Christian Universalism without biblical quotations is strange, to say the least, when, for example, Paul states at the beginning of both the Letter to the Ephesians and the Letter to the Colossians that God has a plan for creation; to restore it. Don't believe in the Bible?
What is problematic is probably the authoritarian and tradition-bound tendency to completely avoid the texts about this plan that God himself has no intention of giving up.
To also go in to make those who read inside suspicious, for example in Rom 5:18 (where "ALL people" at the beginning of the verse refers to the fall and at the end of the same verse refers to the effect of Jesus' atonement) is very remarkable! (The number in the verse in question is carefully specified; "ALL men shall receive 'an acquittal that leads to life'!)
This is plain text that needs no reductive reading.
Personally, I am encouraged, even happy that God is both willing and able to arrange for a happy ending to the cosmic drama!
Those who do not appreciate His power of action can think about the reason.
That the Western churches still hold to the "double exit", the doctrine of hell, is actually not so little embarrassing because it is impossible! If it were true, God would be neither loving nor righteous according to our definitions.
* What parent stops caring about a child who has left them grieving? According to hell belief, He does!
* What district court judge issues death penalty sentences for fairly mild misdemeanors committed in pure ignorance? Not even in Russia and the USA.
According to hell belief, it is even worse; He would even sentence to endless punishments for endless time!
This is an extremely widespread, collective delusion, largely a legacy of the Roman Empire via the Catholic Church. (The Eastern Orthodox schools have at least to some extent held to the view of the first churches.)
Jesus would not be the savior of the WORLD at all, which is very clearly asserted in Scripture. He himself claimed to tear EVERYONE to himself later in the drama! Nice, I think...
* God's will is greater/higher than people's ditto.
* God is better than his reputation!
Actually.
